Josh McClallen begins his fifteenth season as a Railer assistant and his fourteenth as the head freshman coach. Last year, Coach McClallen was sidelined most of the year as he recovered from COVID-19. McClallen and interim head coaches Zach Damm and Gary Rademaker led our freshmen to a 14-5 season and two freshmen tournament championships. This freshman coaching staff proved their ability to prepare our young athletes for the demands of Illinois Class 3A high school basketball. Coach McClallen played four years of college basketball and graduated from Lincoln College and MacMurray College in 1998 and 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree. McClallen also served as a graduate assistant at MacMurray. Currently, Josh works in Springfield as a Disability Claims Adjudicator for the State of Illinois. He and his wife Becky and their nine-year-old son Grady reside in Mason City.
